Larry Binz

Graduated from UALR in 1971 with a B.A. in Political Science and minor in English. Earned an associate in business management from McLennan Community College in 1990 at Waco, Texas, where I worked for Texas Farm Bureau.
Spent 50 years in various forms of journalism -- 32 years in the newspaper business; 13 years in corporate public relations (TFB); three years doing contract writing for a community college in Mississippi and doing videotape work for a Mississippi firm. Also worked in finance briefly and sales.

The four years at Catholic High were probably some of the best years of my life although at the time didn't seem so because we had to hunker down and adjust to the regimented schedule with priests and coaches.
Funniest story? Silly now but not so then. A bee crawled up a pants leg and stung the dickens out of me. I blurted out some expletives. Father George Turner said it couldn't have been bad enough to cuss in class. I told him the bee didn't sting him. The class broke up laughing.
